Carefree In The City

ABOUT: Remember the summers as a young adult that exuded "hot child in the city" vibes? The breaths of sweet sun tickling our senses in between the concrete intertwined skyscrapers? The feeling of being on top of the world, even if our bank accounts humbled us? Oh to be young and carefree in the city, if even only for a fleeting moment.

MEDIUM: Mixed Media (book, gesso, spray paint, marker, acrylic paint, oil pastel, ink, drawing photo transfer via ink and acrylic)

HOW IT'S MADE: This mixed media piece started on reclaimed wood. A collage using thrifted book pages starts as it's base to give texture and inspiration to this piece, followed by gesso and abstract oil pastel lines. Then, spray paint is added on top, with sections sanded away, letting the oil pastel shine through. After a coat of sealant to seal the background, a digital drawing by the artist is manipulated and repeated, then printed and photo transferred using mediums, followed by hand painted acrylic details; each face varies slightly because they are hand painted, giving a repetition but uniqueness to each iteration.
