Indurate Bloom
ABOUT: Recently, I've been inspired by winter and our armoured cocooned shells we envelop ourselves in through the winter months. Or maybe it's just seasonal affective disorder. Regardless, right now I see beauty in our resilience through the winter, and the start of a lovely juxtaposition forming where as we begin to defrost, our hardened, wooden, shells of a human carcass - perhaps withered and faded from the elements we've endured - begin to let newfound beauty and life and colour once again peak out of the layers of our individual permafrosts.
MEDIUM: Mixed Media (digital drawing ink transfer sanded onto wood board/canvas, with gesso, ink pen, graphite, alcohol markers, acrylic paint and acrylic paint markers
HOW IT'S MADE: Digital art drawings (fully drawn by the artist, no AI is ever used in my art) are manipulated to create cut outs and hand transferred and sanded down onto wood panels. Once transferred, white gesso is careful applied around the images to leave intentional wood from the canvas show through. Once dried, the graphics are outlined in black art pen, then, the women and their dress is filled in with alcohol markers and acrylic paint pen. Then, flowers and foliage are hand drawn to adorn the images. Finally, three layers of gloss varnish are applied to seal the final piece.
